The Marvelous Aurora: NASA Astronaut Captures Spectacular Photo from Space Station

Unprecedented Solar Activity Leads to an Enlarged Aurora Display

Crew-5 Astronauts Prepare to Leave the ISS

Josh Cassada, along with three other astronauts, arrived at the ISS in October 2022 as part of SpaceX's Crew-5 mission. The other members of the Crew-5 mission include Nicole Mann of NASA, Koichi Wakata of Japan, and Anna Kikina of Roscosmos. Cassada’s time at the ISS is coming to an end, and the Crew-5 mission is scheduled to return to Earth five days after the arrival of SpaceX's Crew-6 mission.

The ISS provides a unique platform for scientists and researchers to study Earth's natural phenomena, including the auroras. Astronauts at the ISS can study the auroras and their effects on Earth's atmosphere and climate, and they can also conduct experiments to better understand the physical and chemical properties of the auroras.
